My Hero Academia Final Arc – Closing the Curtain on 8 Years of Heroic Battles

A post-apocalyptic cityscape at dusk, with towering skyscrapers in flames under a stormy sky lit by purple lightning, and bold orange text in the center reading, “THIS IS BOTH THE END AND THE BEGINNING.” Fall 2025 New Anime

Back in 2014, when My Hero Academia first appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump, I thought, “Okay, here’s another new hero manga.” Fast-forward eight years, and I realized I’d been counting down the days to each new chapter and episode without fail. Now, the story has finally reached its last volume. As a long-time reader, I’m feeling a mix of satisfaction and bittersweet nostalgia.

The final arc delivers the ultimate showdown between heroes and villains, the culmination of countless battles, and the fully realized growth of Deku and his friends. For anyone who’s been on this journey since day one, it’s impossible not to get emotional.

Final Volume – Spoiler-Free Overview

The story heads straight into Deku’s face-off with Tomura Shigaraki, while his classmates take their positions in the final, all-out battle. Every character fights with the answer they’ve found on their own path, and those moments hit hard—especially if you’ve followed their struggles over the years.

The action is as intense as ever, but what really stands out are the small, quiet moments—those attempts to reclaim everyday life, and the bonds of trust between friends. It’s truly a culmination of everything My Hero Academia has built up to.

Highlight #1 – A Shift in the Meaning of “Hero”

Early in the series, Deku was chasing the idea of a “hero” purely out of admiration. But now, he’s fighting as a hero for the people he wants to protect—driven by choice, not just idolization. Bakugo, Todoroki, Iida, and the rest each hold true to their own convictions, and even the villains are given complex, human backstories.
What I’ve always loved about MHA, especially as an adult fan, is that human depth—it’s what makes the series stick with you long after you’ve put it down.

Highlight #2 – Final Season OP & ED (Still a Mystery!)

The anime’s final season is set to air starting October 4, 2025.
As for the OP and ED themes? We’re still waiting for them to drop. Judging from past seasons, I’m expecting a high-energy OP that gets the blood pumping and an ED that punches you right in the feels. When they do announce them, I wouldn’t be surprised if they instantly become fan favorites.

I’ll be sure to update this post once we get the news—so keep an eye out!

Highlight #3 – Fan Culture and Global Impact

My Hero Academia blends the emotional drive of classic shonen manga with the larger-than-life hero aesthetics of American comics. That’s why it resonates so strongly overseas. At anime conventions in New York, Paris, and Madrid, you can’t miss the MHA cosplayers.
When the final season airs, it’s only a matter of time before TikTok and YouTube are flooded with OP/ED reaction videos, and the hashtag #MyHeroAcademiaFinal starts trending worldwide.

Final Thoughts

Following this story for eight years, it’s hard to say goodbye. But this last volume drives home the message that “there’s always a hero out there,” and that feeling will stick with me long after the series ends.
While we wait for the final season and those OP/ED reveals, I’m planning to re-read the series from the very beginning—just to relive that first rush of excitement.
